What's the legacy we are leaving?

What is the legacy we are leaving future generations?

On Feb. 14th in the world as we know, it is the day we are supposed to celebrate and honor our loved ones. We give flowers and candy and hearts.

But on Feb. 14th, 2008 my heart was broken. A graduate student walked into a lecture hall at Northern Illinois University and randomly began shooting students and the lecturer. Killing students before killing himself.

Young people, in the University, trying to learn and make a life for themselves. To be productive members of our society. To maybe become the future leaders of our world. Maybe a Nobel Scientist, a future president, a poet laureate, a doctor or social worker - -someone that could have bettered OUR lives along with their own. And some sick son of a bitch walked in and took lives and changed lives forever.

What have we taught our youth? When and where did they learn that life - - their own or others - - has no value? How did we make someone so selfish that he felt that he could end his life and in the process take the lives of others. If he chose to kill himself, not thinking of his family and loved ones he would leave behind to grieve, so be it. But the kids he killed had no option. It wasn't their choice.

Schools, shopping malls, retail stores...they are supposed to be safe. Will they ever be again? Why aren't parents teaching the value of life? Why couldn't those around these sick bastards see any signs? Or did they choose not to see it?

So many questions. So few answers.

Thoughts and prayers to the families of those involved in NIU massacre.

Until next time...

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO...MEEEEE!!

I haven't blogged about the state of the world in a while.
I know you are missing my point of view, so this is for you ;)

SUPER BOWL - What an exciting game. I actually watched parts of it around the commercials! CONGRATS to the GIANTS and Giant's fans. I just had the strongest feeling after the Pat's scored and there was about 2:15 left that the Giants would pul it out. Too bad I didn't bet on the underdog. I always root for the underdog.
As a kid, all the girls swooned over Davy Jones...not me...Peter Tork ruled!! Maybe because Tork rhymes with dork...and I am such a dork!! Which leads me to the next topic!
MY DORKINESS - It took me 2 innings, I mean quarters to realize I was rooting for the wrong team! The Giant's jerseys are blue all season. But noooooo, tonight they were white w/ red. WTF??!! I was cheering for the blue jerseys until half way thru the game I figured out that the blue team were the Patriots! It was such a patriotic looking field!
Speaking of patriotic (tee hee - - good segue, huh??)...
JORDIN SPARKS - I got goosebumps as I listened to her sing the National Anthem. She was jaw-dropping incredible. And what is she, like 17? What a voice. bravo!!
BILL BELICHICK - What a sore loser. Walking off the field before the game was officially over. He was a moron in Cleveland and he is a now. But what do I really think of him??!! LOL!
COMMERCIALS - I honestly didn't pay too much attention and I missed most of them. Does that make me as un-American as Bill Bel? I hope not! I did catch a few and I must say that I was grossed out and repulsed by the AMP commercial. Some doofus hooks jumper cables up to his nipples and after drinking the AMP, he is able to jump start a car. It was gross. It was uncalled for. It was sado-masochistic!!

LANE BRYANT - my sympathies to the families of the 5 dead and one survivor of the horrendous shooting in Tinley Park, IL. What possesses a man to walk in a store and go on a killing spree???? I am sickened. If he wanted to rob the place...take the money and go. But, to kill innocent people (or anyone for that matter) is uncomprehensible to me. What kind of world are we leaving as a legacy to future generations?

And speaking of legacys...BRIT BRIT! Did ya think I could blog and not include a tirade about her??!! LOL! ;)
At least the pop-tart is getting the help she so desperately needs. Her 72 hour observational hold has been extended for 14 days. YAY for her, for us and for her children! The sad truth is that she IS sick. In order for a hospital to extend the hold like that, she must be either 1. a threat to herself; 2. a threat to others; or 3. severely disabled mentally or physically. I hope that when she does get well enough to go home the papparazzi will leave her alone. Ignore when she begs for them and let her mend.
AND...now that she is unable to care for herself her parents come out of the woodwork? Just in time to take control of her finances. Something smells a little fishy to me. And I ain't frying no fishies here!

Hmmm, what else??????????

Oh yeah, HEATH LEDGER. What a tragic loss. It makes me sick that the "news" agencies have to put a nasty spin on it. If he did have a drug problem, leave it private. Show some respect for his family. He was never a problem star, like Lindsey or Brit Brit, so why dig up crap now??? Let him rest in peace and let his family mourn in peace.

Wellllllll, I think I am done ranting for now. I know you are relieved!!

Have a great week!

Until next time...
